Joel and Angela have served in Illinois for more than three decades. Before serving as superintendent, they served as Lead Pastors at First Assembly in Bloomington/Normal (2014-2025), Southwest Community Church (2001-2013), and staff pastors in Chicago, Joliet, and Naperville. They’ve pastored, planted, youth pastored, and served as care pastors. They love the church in Illinois – the city, the suburbs, and the rural.
Both Joel and Angela are graduates of Central Bible College, earning their degrees in ’94 and ’95, respectively. Joel is currently completing his Master of Leadership in Ministry at AGTS. Joel was born and raised in Indianola, IA. Angela was born and raised in Elkhart, IN. Both were called to ministry in high school. They have three adult children — Jacob and his wife, Cameron, Samuel, and Lilia.
